Loss of Fluid Pressure
A car’s braking system works via hydraulic pressure. If there’s a leak in the caliper, wheel cylinder, or brake line, there may not be enough pressure in the line for the brakes to work as they should. In this case, professional brake repair is necessary.
Air in the Brake Lines
If the pedal goes to the floor when it’s pushed, there may be an air pocket in the brake line. If there's so much air in the lines that the brake pedal goes all the way to the floorboard, it’s unsafe to drive the vehicle any further.
Rusty Brake Lines
Rusty metal brake lines are commonly found in older vehicles, particularly those exposed to moisture and road salt over the years. Once the lines have rusted, brake fluid leaks may occur. While it's possible for handy drivers to replace their own brake lines, the job may be complex. In most cases, brake line replacement and repair should be left to the experts.
ABS Modulator Leaks
It is possible for dirt or rust in the vehicle’s braking system to work its way into the ABS modulator. This makes it almost impossible for the spring-driven accumulator valve to fully close. If there's a leak in the ABS modulator, bring the vehicle in for a full professional evaluation and possible repair.
Water in the Brake Fluid
When the brake fluid reaches high temperatures, water vaporizes into steam and braking motions aren’t transferred to the wheels.
Don’t put off scheduling discount tires oahu if any of the following braking system problems are noticed.
An illuminated brake warning light
Scraping, squealing, or grinding noises
Wobbling or vibrations
A soft or spongy brake pedal
Pulling to either side when braking
Bouncing during hard stops
All of these issues may point to serious problems within the braking system.
